OVER 3000 people are now members of an increasing popular Facebook group for Bourne End and Wooburn Green’s ‘past and present’.

The group was set up by a lady who has lived in the area for most of her life.

Kaye Townsend said: “We are very pleased I thought no one would be interested in it. It is very exciting it has grown so rapidly.”

With the members total standing at 3,035 at the time of publishing, the group has the same number of members as half of the Bourne End population which stands at 6,066 people.

Mrs Townsend said: “I just thought that there would be 30 odd people join it but it just grew and grew and grew.”

The group was first started to share old photos and memories amongst people from the area.

But it has now developed into much more and people can now share information about upcoming events, advertise their business and enquire about local services.

Mrs Townsend said: “It has worked really well, people have been able to reconnect with old friends and some people have even regained contact with family members they lost touch with.”
