A PUB has helped raise £500 for a swimming club which aims to give children and adults with learning difficulties the opportunity to improve in the water.

By hosting a charity shopping and pamper evening at The Walnut Tree, in Hedsor Road, Bourne End, the Starfish Swimming Club, based in Maidenhead, was given a charitable boost and residents were able to learn about the work they do.

The cause was championed by Bourne End resident Aisling Jenkins, after the support it has given to Luke, her son.

On the evening of Tuesday, November 11, many enjoyed the various stalls selling gifts and beauty items, while there was also a tapas cocktails and wine section.

The pub said all stall fees and raffle proceeds, totalling £500, were donated to this unique local charity.

Andy McCabe the chairman of Starfish Swimming Club said: “I would like to express my appreciation and thanks for the evening to all the people that contributed – not only did it raise money but also awareness of Starfish and the work that we do, showing that children with disabilities have the same ability as children without.”
