Buckinghamshire County Council has earmarked more than £6 million to react to the infrastructure needs of the five recently released reserve sites.

Four areas of land across High Wycombe and an area of former green belt land separating Bourne End and Wooburn were recently released by Wycombe District Council for development.

A lot of concerns were raised by residents after WDC gave developers the green light to build on Gomm Valley and Ashwells, Abbey Barn north and south, Terriers Farm and Slate Meadow.

One of the recurring problems campaigners brought to the attention of councillors was the additional traffic on the roads across the district and the need for new infrastructure.

But BCC have now said the £6.2m for supporting road building and improvements relating to High Wycombe's reserve sites will come over two years from 2017 to 2019.

Announcing the allocation, Bucks Local Transport Body (LTB) member and BCC leader Martin Tett said: “New growth needs new infrastructure so that our county continues to thrive.

“Allocating these funds to emerging growth areas shows our continued commitment to stimulating the local economy for the benefit of residents and businesses.”

BCC also announced plans to plough £2.1m into an urban link road project in Aylesbury.

In announcing the allocation of £8.3 million in funding, the LTB hopes to support future growth across the county.

The funding, from the Department for Transport, is predicted to be spent over the coming four financial years.
