Campaigners appear keen to rally the troops in Bourne End with an advertising board pleading for residents to speak up about development.

One villager has erected a large sign in his garden to spread the message about an important meeting on the future of Slate Meadow, situated between Bourne End and Wooburn Green.

Hundreds showed their support for the development-threatened land last year, but Wycombe District Council eventually released the meadow from reserve site status in October.

This essentially gave developers the green light to put in planning applications for the area, but WDC are now keen to work with residents to ensure any construction would be right for the area.

So far there have been two liaison group workshops, with one due to be held in Bourne End Community Centre, Wakeman Road, on Saturday, March 14.

Last month one of the leading Save Slate Meadow campaigners called on residents to voice their thoughts on any future development.

Miriam Blazey said: “Ideally we all want developers to see sense and realise this is a place they should just not develop.

“However, I think using our heads a bit more we realise it is going to be difficult to have our objections listened to if we are not involved.

“I hope people realise we are still against this development and fighting it but we can’t just sit back and wait for them to build what they want, if they are going to build anything we need to be able to have our say and be listened to.”
