Oasis are very very poor Beatle wannabees. I never understood the attraction of their music.... I mean 'She's electric.'.... could the lyrics get more infantile?

S*d off Callagher back to the north if they will have you!

No doubt he will have to pay for the summer house himself. If he wanted a football stadium the local Council would probably pay the building costs from public funds!

Although I wasn't a huge fan of Oasis, partly due to the Gallagher brothers behaviour, I met Noel in Tesco Express in Little Chalfont a year or so ago and he was very pleasant. I didn't know who he was at the time it was only when we left the store that my husband told me.

I think you will find it is Gallagher, not Callagher - and if you tell somebody to S*d off, you should always say "please"....lol ;0)

Indeed. Oasis could never match deep stuff like ' She Loves You, Yeah Yeah Yeah' and 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand'.

I'm not a big fan of Oasis but let's not forget the Beatles had their fair share of nonsense lyrics and throwaway pop stuff. Anyway, must get back to building my yellow submarine....

Why do people still perpetuate this beatles being the greatest myth. Yes, they had some good songs, but they had some dreadful ones too. The amount they churned out, they had to get lucky with some of them.

.

As for oasis, Noel Gallacher is obviously talented and his brother is just a yob who was lucky to have been born into the same family. While Im not a fan of the oasis characters, there cant be many better songs than wonderwall in the last couple of decades. Better than any beatles or elvis song by a country mile!

Why is this news?

He has acres and acres, so no one else will see it, whatever he builds.

the beatles defined modern music. They are the greatest band that ever lived and I cannot see why people would even question this,
As for Wonderwall - perhaps someone could explain what the heck it is on about.
Yes Yellow Submarine was a nonsense song, but let me point you to Lear and AA Milne.
They wrote great nonsense poetry.
Sorry I stand by my assertion. The Beatles ARE all that and there is no one to compare to them.
It is fashionable to knock them, but lets see if Oasis's songs stand the test of time.
My betting is they won't.

LOL
How can you say the droney rubbish that is Wonderwall is better than Yesterday, Golden Slumbers, Here, there and Everywhere, Something, Sergeant Peppers Lonely HeartClub Band, In My Life, That Boy, A little Help from my Friends... OMG the list goes on.Against what? A song whose lyrics are so embedded in deep and hidden meaning that they make no sense.
How on earth does that rubbish compare with any of those?
With all due respect, go listen to Abbey Road, Let It Be and perhaps Revolver.
Then come back and tell me that anything Oasis has ever produced can compare to that.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not saying Oasis are better than the Beatles. Certainly won't have the legacy the Beatles have. The Beatles produced their fair share of nonsense though, and indeed in their early days could be viewed as the first 'boy-band'

I used to listen to the Beatles a lot, but not so much these days. Personally as far as 60's bands go I preferred The Kinks. Not saying their lyrics were any deeper, but they were the first band who's music I loved. The Doors were fab too, although were overshadowed as a band by Jim Morrison's drug-fueled nonsense.

Saying you can't see why anyone would deny the Beatles are the best band ever is a bit silly though. Taste in music is a personal thing.

Sorry kadoogan - my post was directed at the person who asserted that Wonderwall was better than anything that the Beatles produced. I mean .. WTF????

Anyway I have to stand by my assertion that they are the greatest band ever lived. You see at the ripe old age of 45 I have recently become converted. Until recently I could not see what all the fuss was about.
Until I heard.. Oh Darling from Abbey Road. I then bought the whole album and could have wept at the perfection of it.
So now I am a zealot!
