A DRAMA group in Bourne End has revived some 'not very loveable characters' for its autumn production.
The Forum Players are set to perform Barking Mad this month - a play which was penned by member Anthony Deacon.
It returns 15 years since being first performed by the amateur dramatics group, with some of the original actors from 1995 taking on new roles in 2010.
Mr Deacon said: “It’s a grown-up play with some not very lovable characters who are hell-bent on furthering their own ends. I have always felt that it offered a good night at the theatre.”
Elderly Mr Barks invites his two daughters, Stephanie and Mellissa, to stay with him for the weekend on his lonely country estate.
Suddenly the prospect of wealth from the sale of the estate grips the girls, who each plot the other’s demise to avoid sharing the legacy.
More characters drift into the scenes, which move towards a police investigation and some double-dealing that “keeps everyone guessing before the final curtain”.
Barking Mad will be performed as a free show for senior citizens on Wednesday, September 15 at 8pm. On Friday, September 17 at 8pm and Saturday September 18 at 7pm there are performances with tickets £5 on the door.
The play is not suitable for children and contains some language which may offend.
