A leading Chilterns-based charity will be turning purple tomorrow to mark the world's largest epilepsy event.

Staff at the Epilepsy Society will be donning colourful wigs and T-shirts in celebration of Purple Day on Thursday.

Purple is the international colour of epilepsy and the event is designed to raise money and awareness of the condition, which affects 50million people worldwide.

The Chalfont St Peter-based Epilepsy Society will be joining in with the celebrations and the charity is encouraging Bucks residents to take part.

Helen Stevens, the Epilepsy Society's Purple Day co-ordinator, said: "Purple Day, which is held each year on March 26, is a wonderful way to raise the profile of this hidden and sometimes difficult to live with condition.

"At Epilepsy Society staff will be wearing purple ribbons and clothes and selling purple themed cakes. Last year we raised £10,000 on Purple Day and this year we are hoping it will be bigger and better than ever."
