A HUB for entrepreneurs and volunteers in Chesham has opened in the town centre.

The new home for CoreChesham was officially opened at 15a East Street on Friday after a successful campaign to raise £20,000 for the venture.

A community radio station will be the first new business to operate from the hub, with the building being made available rent free for the first six months.

Young entrepreneurs will be able to run budding businesses or pop-up shops from the building and there is also a meeting room for volunteer groups to use.

The campaign to open the new hub came from a spin off of the Better Chesham group's Portas Pilot bid, which was designed to rejuvenate town centres across the country.

Group chairman Martin Parkes said: "Having an office will give us a real impetus, it will be a base where the internet radio can start broadcasting and we already have enquiries from people wishing to use desk space.

"We can get started for real now while we are looking for a long-term lease on a shop with frontage on the High Street."
