A CLICK of the ruby red slippers was it all took for children to be transported to the magical world of Oz.

In a retelling of the classic tale about a lion, tin man and a mysterious wizard, Cookham became Kansas.

The musical was performed by budding thespians from Herries School in Cookham Dean this week.

Music and drama director Jami Castell said: "I chose the Wonderful Wizard of Oz because it’s one of my favourite musicals of all time."

There were five different Dorothies for the production, based on the eponymous children’s novel by L. Frank Baum.

Year 5 pupil Jessie Sumroy said: "Every pupil looks forward to the summer production - it's always really exciting when the different parts announced.

"I love the way that you become a different character on stage and you travel to another world."
