HUNDREDS lined the River Thames through Marlow this evening to greet David Walliams as he completed the fifth day of his epic swim to Big Ben.
He was given a guard of honour by some synchronised swimmers and the comic told the BBC when he got out: "What an amazing turnout of people in Marlow."
He touched in at about 7.30pm, just before Marlow Bridge, after being spurred on by the crowds. He added: "I speed up a bit when I see people because I want people to think I'm a good swimmer."
Walliams was met by Sir Steve Redgrave at Bisham earlier this evening. He is due to set off again at 7am tomorrow, towards Bourne End and Cookham in his attempt to swim 140 miles from Gloucestershire to Westminster.
About 300 people watched him swim past Hurley Lock at about 5.45pm.
The comedian, who has raised over £500,000, is being trained by Marlow Bottom resident Professor Greg Whyte.
Prof Whyte said this morning: “David's in good spirits, but his arms and shoulders are seizing up and he is receiving increasingly painful Physio at every stop.
“He'll be in pain for the duration now, it's just a case of us trying to minimise it for him now.”
A stomach bug from the dirty water has hit the Little Britain star hard, but it appears it is not going to stop him.

Remarkable to see part of the great feat.
Probably the biggest turnout along the towpath since the monks lived at Bisham Priory.
