A BAG-FOR-LIFE scheme will be launched at the Eden shopping centre in High Wycombe on Sunday.

Shoppers will be able to buy the bags for £1 from the customer service desk.

They are made from 100 per cent recyclable jute material with proceeds going towards producing more and local "green initiatives and charities".

The launch of the scheme will be celebrated at the centre tomorrow with musical and acts and entertainers from 11am to 3pm.

This will include the Weapons of Sound' band, who make their music using recycled instruments; rubbish' jugglers; and stilt walkers.

Last year Wycombe Friends of the Earth and the Environment Centre urged shops moving into the centre - which opened this March - to not give out plastic bags.

Rubbish jugglers - couldn't they afford to pay for good ones then?

stilt walkers

Now we know why there is no roof - all down to health and safety for stilt walkers.

Do they think the people of Wycombe can afford £1 for a bag to carry their shopping home in? Get real!
This will include the Weapons of Sound' band.
Does the band do requests? Perhaps a suitable song would be “Fixing a hole” from the Sgt. Peppers album. The lyrics “I’m fixing a hole where the rain comes in” would be most appropriate for the complex!

Marks and Spencers sell bags for life for 10 pence.

You could get 10 for the price of one Eden bag!

Another Eden rip off!

Added to the parking price rip off and the cinema "nachos" rip off....

Another classic example of BFP grammar. No wonder the reporter hasn't put their name against the article

£1 for a bag for life, a very good idea, if it means what it says, buy your bag and take it with you when you shop, when it is worn out replace it for free.

yes Nick, but tesco, sainsburys and M&S all do the bag for life for a fraction of the price so why spend a £1 when you can spend 10p

We need bagless shops to discipline us into taking our own.

Thanks Ivor for quoting the lyrics to your "hilarious" roof/hole pun above, I had no idea what you were going on about until the quote, who wrote this memorable song (and album)?
