Delays warning after M40 incident

TWO men were injured when the car they were in tipped over on the M40.

One of men, in a people carrier, was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford by land ambulance after the incident.

Drivers are being warned to expect 13 minute delays following the accident, northbound between junctions 5 and 6.

The inside lane is closed because of debris, the Highways Agency said.

Mark Lister, spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service, said the vehicle was towing a trailer with a car on when the accident happened shortly after 3pm.

The other passenger, a man in his late 40s, was treated at the scene.

The man taken to hospital is in his early 40s, he said, and suffered cuts.

'Warned to expect 13 minute delays'

Now thats accurate!

I came through after 5.30pm and I only had to wait 5 minutes and 33 seconds.

Luckily it was only the central lane that was blocked and three lanes of traffic was splitting into two lanes - one on the inside and one on the outside lane.

I am wondering why the vehicle was still there after 5.30pm when the accident happened "shortly after 3.00pm".

Is there a time warp on that part of the M40?

No, but all the police had been drafted to sit on Marlow hill capturing speeding motorists...

Cars don't just tip over.

Can anyone tell me how many accidents have now been caused by the "safety widening" of this part of the M40??
Same as all the other "safety measures" I suppose e.g. safety cameras, "I was looking at my speedo when the car in front braked sharply"; the speed humps "the insurers have refused to quote because of the structural damage"; the safety island "there was just no room to overtake the cyclist"; the yellow accident statistic signs "I was so busy reading them, I drove into a ditch"; the other totally unnecessary signage which is distracting to all drivers and lethal to motorcyclists - how many have run into cosmetic and now unmaintained village "gates"?
It's time for our "safety experts" to consider whether it's a job for life, or a job to save lives!
