HUNDREDS of motorists in Amersham and Chesham were checked in a police crackdown on crime.
More than 1,900 drivers were stopped in four hours last Wednesday, in a bid to catch motorists flouting basic driving laws.
Officers also linked 42 vehicles to crimes using automatic number plate recognition systems which cross-check a vehicle's history on the police database.
Sgt Steve Buckland, of Chesham police, said the operation was prompted by a sudden rise in burglaries across the Chiltern district.
