CINEMA goers have criticised the Filmworks cinema in High Wycombe after managers opted not to show controversial documentary Fahrenheit 9/11.

Michael Moore's latest movie which hones in on the Bush regime has won rave reviews from critics and enjoyed huge box office success nationwide.

Elsa Woodward, of The Haystacks, in High Wycombe, said: "This is a very topical film and many people want to see it. I can't understand why the cinema doesn't want to show it. It's making money everywhere. The nearest cinema to Wycombe where you can see the film is Maidenhead. The cinema told me it was down to a shortage of copies."

The independent movie focuses on the Bush regime in America and its shortcomings leading up to and in the aftermath of September 11, 2001.

Paul Laver, of Hatters Lane, added: "It's stupid. The film is making money everywhere. The reason for not showing it must be politically motivated."

UCI has previously maintained its film itinerary at its High Wycombe and Maidenhead cinemas are scheduled together because of close proximity.

Lianne Butterfield, of UCI, said: "A limited number of copies of Fahrenheit 9/11 have been made available for distribution across UCI's 35 cinemas nationwide. To ensure people in Wycombe and the surrounding areas have the opportunity to see Fahrenheit 9/11, we secured a copy for The Filmworks in nearby Maidenhead where it is now showing daily."
