CHILDREN in south Bucks are big fans of the carrot, according to a recent survey.
Research commissioned by the Harvester restaurant chain looked into the eating habits of children aged between seven and ten.
It focused on how much kids like fresh foods, particularly vegetables.
Carrots proved to be the most popular vegetable by far with 29 per cent of children saying they were their favourite, compared with 12 per cent choosing sweetcorn and 11 per cent saying peas.
Lorraine Pound, manager at the Beaconsfield Harvester in London Road, Holtspur, said: "It's really interesting to see that carrots are so popular.
"This might be because carrots are so bright in colour and can be served in so many interesting ways. We simply grate them, which keeps in all the goodness and nutrients."
Other findings from the survey highlighted that around 40 per cent of girls eat vegetables every day compared to 33 per cent of boys. Only eight per cent of children surveyed said they never eat vegetables.
