HOSPITAL hunks have stripped down for a steamy calendar to raise money for Scannappeal.

Male staff from Wycombe, Amersham and Stoke Mandeville Hospitals have taken part in the shoot that is set to have the ladies' hearts racing.

The calendar was the idea of friends Ellie Mundy and Natalie Luck, who both wanted to raise money for the Wycombe-based charity.

Miss Mundy said: "We wanted to do it for a local charity. It made more sense to do something that people in our area are going to benefit from."

Money made from the calendar will go towards the Scannappeal Key-hole unit appeal, which has a £250,000 target figure.

Miss Mundy, who works as an agency nurse at Wycombe Hospital, put up posters calling for good-looking men to come forward.

After much persuasion, doctors, nurses and hospital porters all agreed to pose in front of the cameras.

Miss Mundy said: "They were all up for a laugh. Some of them didn't want to get quite as naked as we would have liked but they were all really enthusiastic."

The calendar, due to hit the shelves in the third week of November, features 24 models in black and white pictures, each depicting a different aspect of work at the hospital.

Miss Mundy said: "We wanted to show the sorts of things that go on in an hospital but with a cheeky slant. But the calendar is tasteful, men in shorts is about as extreme as it gets."

The calendar will be available for a minimum donation of £5.

Advance orders are now being taken by the Scannappeal team on 01494 734161.
