RESIDENTS who have had concerns about a heavily subsided road in Flackwell Heath say they are “delighted” it is now being fixed.
A section of Carrington Avenue near Chapel Road was closed for almost three weeks after it sunk considerably.
At first residents were concerned that there was a sinkhole underneath. However, Transport for Bucks have allayed those fears and have now started to fix the subsidence.
However, although work is now underway and expected to be completed within a few days, Anne Moody, co-ordinator for the roads Neighbourhood Watch, said that it has taken too long.
She said: “It has been a very slow process, an awful lot of people contacted them (TfB) to get something done.
“It took an immense amount of phone calls with my neighbours and the authority. I think my phone bill will be quite high.”
She added: “I am absolutely delighted it is finally getting fixed, over the moon really, it has been an inconvenience and a worry to everyone.”
Work on the subsidence will include restructuring the concrete base underneath the surface and laying new tarmac on the road.
Ruth Vigor-Hedderly Cabinet Member for Transportation, said: “I am sorry for any inconvenience caused to residents whilst the road was closed and during this repair but I hope that they will be pleased with the new surface when the work is complete later in the week.”
