ADULTS will get the chance to discover their college options at a special event running later this month.

During Adult Learners Week - June 16 to 20 - Amersham & Wycombe College will be holding an open evening at its two Centres in Amersham and High Wycombe, where adults can come along to find out more about its range of part-time courses starting September 2014.

Those visiting the Amersham Centre can also see work by adult students in sculpture, print, painting and photography, as part of the College’s End of Year Show, taking place from Tuesday, June 17, to Friday, June 20.

Mimi Harker OBE and former mayor of Amersham is one learner who utilised a College course to help grow her fledgling business. She said: "As a result of attending the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy at College, I did something I never dreamed of doing - I launched my own business.

"None of this would have happened without the adult course, which helped me learn how to run my own mini empire. Amersham is extremely lucky to have a college on our doorstep which offers a real variety of courses to suit students of all abilities and ages."

The college has more than 150 part-time adult professional and leisure courses suitable for those who would like to retrain, further develop their careers, or simply try something new.

New courses are constantly being introduced to cater for an ever-changing market and for September these will include a Level 2 Award in Setting up a New Business and a Level 5 Certificate in Human Resource Management.

Hundreds of adults come to College each year, and leave with new qualifications that can help make a huge difference to their lives.

One recent successs story is former adult learner Caroline Davis who was presented with the national Top Student Award for her outstanding results in Level 2 Certificate, Book-Keeping. Caroline beat 340 students sitting the exam at 40 exam centres across the UK.
