REJUVENATION work on playground equipment in Flackwell Heath will start this week.

The first phase of Chepping Wycombe Parish Council’s plans to revitalise the park area will cost £85,000.

Old equipment in the Recreation Ground, in Straight Bit, will be replaced with modern climbing frames and a 6.7 metre high tower.

Workmen fenced off the playground area yesterday with work likely to start soon after.

It is expected the work will take about four weeks to complete.

The rejuvenation is being carried out across the main playground in each of the council’s three wards.

Old equipment in Loudwater Park was recently replaced while work on Ashley Park in Tylers Green is soon to begin.

Parish chairman Katrina Wood said: “I think we are all looking forward to seeing what the park will look like when the work is done.

“This is just the first phase of our plans for the Flackwell Heath area and we are hoping to replace the old equipment with modern equipment.

“We recently completed work in Loudwater but we are gradually rejuvenating the park areas in all of our wards.

“We know from what people in the area have said to us residents would like to see more done to the area.

“Some of the equipment is just out of date and not necessarily what children want.

“It is looking a bit tired and in need of a bit of attention.

“Some bits just need some paint but others need replacing.”

It is believed some of the equipment in the area will remain and be used alongside the new tower and climbing frames.
