A GERRARDS Cross school more than doubled their fundraising target with a ‘black tie and sparkles ball’ last month.
The Gayhurst School Parent Association aimed to raise £20,000 to fund a care nurse at South Bucks Hospice, but instead raised more than £42,000.
The school wanted to raise the money to fund a year’s salary for a Lymphoedema Care Nurse at the hospice.
But thanks to families, friends and staff at the school, in Bull Lane, they raised £42,395.
The remainder of the money will be used to build an ‘outdoor classroom’ for the children in the grounds of the school.
