Three prestigious locations in south Bucks have topped the list for most sought after homes for London commuters.

Gerrards Cross was named best across the country for both the village surroundings it offers and the quick commute into the Capital.

In a study commissioned by property consultants CBRE, three areas in Bucks were found to be in the top UK most sought after commuter locations, with Beaconsfield and Amersham also featuring highly on the list.

Beaconsfield came just behind its neighbouring village of Gerrards Cross in second place while Amersham came fifth behind Rickmansworth and Sevenoaks.

It is the second time in just months that Beaconsfield has received national commendation, as they were also named England’s most expensive market town.

Commuting times on the Chiltern Line from Gerrards Cross to London Marylebone averages between 20 and 30 minutes, while it is only considered to be slightly longer from Beaconsfield.

CBRE’s head of residential research praised the two closely-linked locations highlighting easy access to Central London as a major factor in the awarding of first and second in their top ten list.

She said: “Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield continue to appeal to those commuters seeking easy access into Central London and Heathrow, with close links to the M40 and M4 motorway and, less surprisingly, remain in the top three places for the most sought after category.”

Also seen in the list for most sought after locations were St Albans, Windsor and Maidenhead.

CBRE also compiled a list for the London’s Most Affordable Commuting Location, with Basildon named the best.

The second most affordable location was Luton while Reading was also recognised in the top ten.
