PUPILS worried about some of their teachers getting sacked, following a disappointing Ofsted report, have set up a Facebook page calling for a fightback.

But Holmer Green Senior School head teacher, Mike Jones, said misinformation has been leaked to pupils.

Mr Jones said a confidential process is currently taking place over leadership restructuring at the school, but not regarding teaching.

Following a January Ofsted visit the academy was downgraded from a 'good' to a 'requires improvement' rating.

Mr Jones said: "At the moment the school is going through a senior leadership restructure process.

"It is a confidential process.

"It is very much in line to improve leadership aspects highlighted in the Ofsted report.

"We need to do a restructure to move towards good or better."

The Facebook page has been set up by Year 11 pupils called The HGSS Fightback.

A recent post read: "This page is fighting for all of the teachers losing their jobs for no reason, this page is to help all years not just year 11."

They said they want to get the whole school to support the cause to keep teachers and were planning various rallies.

But Mr Jones said he has met with Year 11 pupils and tried as far as he can to explain.

He added: "My message to them, with my hand on my heart, is every member of staff at this school - their main priority is to help and support them and get the best results they can."

He said much of the information being leaked to pupils was incorrect, and was causing distress.

Mr Jones added: "I was aware that things have been leaked to the children. It is awful that an adult or group would think of doing that."

He said he will pass on the outcome of the process in due course and and the results will be in effect by September, at the latest.
