A POWER cut disrupted over 1000 businesses and residents in and around High Wycombe this morning.

A number of shops and food outlets were reportedly closed at the Wycombe Marsh Retail Park, but the majority are now believed to have been re-opened.

The power cut affected the area between 10.45am and 11.05am today, according to Scottish and Southern Energy who said 1400 customers would have been affected.

It is not currently known the exact areas which were affected but residents in Wycombe Marsh have told the BFP there was disruption.

Christine emailed to say: “We had no water, electricity or reception for 30 minutes. We live near the retail park.”

The areas surrounding High Wycombe were also affected.

In an email sent to the BFP, Omar Smith, said: “All private and commercial buildings in Hazlemere went into blackout, including Widmer End and Holmer Green. People had to abandon their shopping.

“The power is now back on having returned stage by stage to individual areas.”

Scottish and Southern Energy told the Bucks Free Press the power cut was caused by a transient fault, likely to be an object.

A SSE spokesman said: "We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank people for their patience."
