UNDER used recycling centres around the Wycombe district could be closed following the introduction of a blue bin collection service from homes.
Wycombe District Council will carry out a review to decide which public recycling areas are kept on – but this will not happen until the roll out of the new blue bin collection service is extended to blocks of flats.
WDC confirmed it had noticed a drop-off in the number of people using the recycling areas since the joint waste contract with Chiltern District Council began in October.
Council spokesman Sue Robinson said: “We’ve seen a significant reduction in the amount of glass coming through our recycling centres since we introduced our blue bin collection service.
“We are planning to review the number of recycling centres we have in the district later this year, to establish which recycling centres need to be kept. Our review will look at sites of strategic importance.
“We will run a public awareness campaign should it be decided a local recycling centre is to be removed from service.”
