A FAMILY are desperately looking for two beloved pet cats who escaped from a cat pen in Hughenden Valley.

Leo, Bess and George escaped from a cat pen in the garden of a home in Burnham Road, Hughenden Valley on August 15, hours after their owners had dropped them off to go on holiday to Wales.

The escape artists forced their way through the back of the pen they were housed in but the family's other two cats decided to remain behind.

Happily on Sunday Leo was found by a couple near The Harrow in Hughenden, but Bess and George are still at large.

Bess has short-haired, black fur with a white bib and paws and is described as a little on the tubby side. She is microchipped.

George is a laid-back cat who is a short-haired black and tabby.

Owner Louise Race said: "They are all fit cats and used to living in a rural environment so we believe they are 'living rough'.

"We searched the area around where they escaped but to no avail, we have put up posters and delivered flyers to houses and businesses in Hughenden Valley, Naphill, Cryers Hill and Walters Ash.

"As the days pass we have to accept that the cats may have travelled some distance. We are very grateful to all the people, and there have been many, who have taken the trouble to contact us with possible sightings. "We have responded to all of these and made numerous trips to the area early in the morning, late at night and all hours in between.

"We live 23 miles away near Waddesdon but are happy to spend the time to try and retrieve our beloved pets."

She believes as the weather becomes more autumnal they may try to befriend someone and find a new home.

Louise added: "They are sorely missed by their loving family of two adults, four children and other cats.

"We will of course offer a reward to anyone who can offer information leading to their safe return."

If you think you have spotted Bess or George phone Louise on 07759 025019.
