AN Indian restaurant in High Wycombe has been told to close while building work is carried out.

Expansion work is being completed at Bombay Palace in Crendon Street this week, and joint owner Kazi Islam told the Bucks Free Press: “While the builder was working the council wasn’t happy to keep it open....They just feel it’s not right to open the restaurant while we complete the job.”

He expects to reopen next week.

Wycombe District Council said in a statement: “Following a routine inspection on Monday, Wycombe District Council's environmental health officers closed Bombay Palace because the premises posed a risk to health.

"We are now waiting to hear from the food business operators about how and when they propose to address these risks. The premises will remain closed until such time that we are satisfied that they no longer pose a risk to public health.”

A small but interesting detail is that a local newspaper does not send a photographer to snap the place a copule of miles away - it relies on Google Earth Street View - it would be inconvenient to leave the centrally-heated, air-conditioned office I suppose.

Nothing else to moan about imperturbablelawrenc
e, so I would rather instead of using a resource that is available they should waste time and fuel by driving to the place in question! You'll moaning next that they have had to put the price up. Stop moaning and do something better with your time!!!!

I'm not surprised by this news. I have only eaten there once. The food reacted so badly I actually soiled myself in the restaurant. Unfortunately I was wearing my fashionable skinny white trousers. It was distressing for everyone unfortunate enough to be there.

Given that it only had a 2 star hygiene rating in the first place I think we are all served very well by this order from the environmental health officers. Keep up the good work guys and keep us safe from sub-standard cleanliness.

I hope the builder in question does better than me, and actually gets paid for the work he does.

It may have only had a 2 star hygiene rating but it was still the cleaner of this man's 2 restaurants, the other (Mr India) managed only 1 star, maybe he should shut both for a few days to give the staff some lessons in cleaning and food hygiene, then his restaurant might fare better in next results.

For a short time I lived in the flats that overlooked the back of this place, they keep all cooking pots in a dirty outhouse in a filthy rat infested alley that is smelly and greasy due to them throwing food and fat down drains, would not go near the place, need to spend more on hygeine training not cosmetics.

This restaurant has been temporarily closed while building work is carried out. No mention was made of food or hygiene! Can't believe someone posted to say they s**t themselves in white trousers in a restaurant!!! NB food poisoning does not occur that quickly. Where you the only one in your party to s**t themselves? Or did others s**t themselves as well? I have now been put off eating there - not because of the food but because I now know that someone had a dump in the middle of the restaurant!

The restaurant was closed by Wycombe District Council's environmental health officers because the premises posed a risk to health, not the health and safety people because of danger and it should be noted that the owner was prepared to open and operate the place in that condition, the restaurant was closed but not by him.

I too soiled myself in this restaurant. But it had nothing to do with the food. I just like doing it.
