THE family of a teenage motorcyclist who died in High Wycombe on Wednesday have led the tributes to him.

Tributes from friends and family have poured in for 18-year-old Lloyd Mitchell, who tragically died following the collision near the Rye on Wednesday, September 10.

The young man from High Wycombe was only using the motorbike because a friend who normally took him to work at the Biffa depot, in the London Road, was unwell on the day.

The emergency services were called to the collision between the motorbike and a beige Toyota estate car at the junction of Chestnut Avenue and Bassetsbury Lane at about 11.45am but Lloyd sadly died at the scene.

His grandparents have told the Bucks Free Press how his untimely death was unimaginable, and they will always remember his ‘cheeky grin’.

Grandfather Dale Nathan said: “It is just unimaginable, we could not believe it. We don’t really know what happened yet, but we know he was near his work and he doesn’t normally even take the bike.

“We think it was only about the second time he had been on it. He normally gets picked up by someone else, but I think they were ill that day so instead he just took his bike.”

His grandmother Mary Nathan said: “He is only 18 and just like everyone his age he was the type of boy that just grunted a lot, but we were really looking forward to the next stage of his life, all the conversations we could have had.

“His mum asked him for his 18th birthday what he wanted to do, fully expecting him to say a party with all of his friends, but instead he wanted to go out for a big family meal with everyone. That is one of those things we will remember.

“He always had a cheeky grin, he was a good lad – he drove us mad, but that was him.”

The family say information about the collision is still vague but they say police are continuing to investigate.

Since his death close friends have held a vigil on the Rye and others have paid their respects by leaving flowers on the road side.

Hundreds of tributes have been left for the teenager on social media websites.

On Facebook, Rebeckah Barlow, said: “It's so hard knowing your not going to be around anymore, seeing that smile on your face and all our chats we used to have, iv lost a really good friend, I miss you.”
