Pupils from a Wycombe grammar school were crowned the National Youth Choir of the Year at the Royal Festival Hall last weekend.

The Royal Grammar School group will now progress to the grand final in Manchester on December 7 to vie for the title of overall Choir of the Year.

Directed by Tim Venvell, head of music at RGS, the all-male capella group, Singers Ltd, have performed at a range of community events as well as weddings and school performances.

RGS headteacher, Roy Page, said: “Singers Ltd wowed the judges and audience alike. These are school-age pupils on stage, juggling their studies with this enormous national competition.

"To achieve what they have achieved in this arena is truly astonishing and I am incredibly proud of their dedication and talent.”

In an unexpected twist, the audience received a double helping of the RGS that evening, as alumnus Shlomo, a beatbox artist, took to the stage during the judges’ deliberations to perform a few of his numbers.
