The attempted kidnapping of a 46-year-old woman in High Wycombe on Saturday evening was a “random” attack, police have now said.

With a manhunt still ongoing following the incident in Cressex Road, officers have said the attacker was not believed to be known to the victim.

The man described as white, medium build, and in his thirties tried to pull the woman back as she was walking along Cressex Road at about 9.45pm, but she was able to fight free and run away.

Shortly before the attempted kidnapping, a white van pulled up next to her as she was walking along the road and the driver offered to give the victim a lift – but she declined.

It was following this that the man attempted to grab her but she was able to get away and run to safety to Booker Place.

The van driver then drove off towards Lane End.

Following the incident, police were quick to appeal for witnesses and Thames Valley Police spokesman Rhianne Pope today said it is believed to be a “random” attack.
