A property in Arnison Avenue has been left badly damaged after fire swept through the flat this morning.

Firefighters were called to Portland House at 9.32am.

One crew from Beaconsfield and two from High Wycombe tackled the blaze with a jet and hose reel and a thermal imaging camera.

Oxygen was given to a man suffering from smoke inhalation and paramedics treated him for burns.

Three other men escaped the flat before emergency services arrived at the scene.

The flat was badly damaged by fire and the ground floor was damaged by water.

Sajjad Tameez, centre manager at Wycombe Islamic Society in nearby St Marks Close, was at the scene.

He said: "Apparently, it started just before 9:30am... Smoke filled the flat and one person was reported to have suffered injury from the smoke."

Police and an ambulance also attended the scene and the road was closed for public safety.

The owner of the flat is reportedly helping the tenants to find alternative accommodation.

Firefighters will be returning to the scene at around 2pm to carry out a reinspection of the property.
