A burglar who broke into a Marlow home and stole two cars before driving to steal cigarettes from a Co-op has been jailed for three and a half years.

Anthony Crawford, 24, of Whitelands Road in High Wycombe, pleaded guilty to one count of burglary dwelling and one count of burglary non-dwelling.

At 6.20am on May 14, Crawford stole a Vauxhall Astra and a Volkswagen Eos, along with electrical items, from a house in The Ridgeway, Marlow.

He then drove to Chinnor in the Astra and broke into the The Co-operative store in Oakley Road and stole cigarettes.

Crawford was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Thursday, November 27.

PC Sarah Simpson from High Wycombe Local CID said: "The impact of a burglary on a victim can be long-lasting and in this case the victims had the added stress of learning that their vehicles were then used by Crawford to commit further crime.

"I hope that Crawford’s sentence help the victims to move on with their lives, and will act as a deterrent to other criminals.

"Thames Valley Police takes burglary extremely seriously and will do everything in our power to put those responsible behind bars."
