STUDENTS and staff at Buckinghamshire New University put their baking skills and handiwork to good use last week as they raised £343 through a charity Christmas market.
The market, featuring a variety of stalls selling festive food and goodies and other festive items, took place in The Gateway at the University, in Queen Alexandra Road, High Wycombe.
Money will be donated to the charities Serv Blood Bikes and Horizon Sports Club, which are Bucks Students’ Union’s two chosen Raise and Give (RAG) charities to support this year.
The market featured vendors selling cards, as well as jewellery, gifts, clothing, sweets, candyfloss, and mulled wine.
Student Carolin Lorenz, studying BA (Hons) Music and Live Events Management, organised the event with fellow student Jess Botwright, who studies BA (Hons) Events and Festival Management.
Carolin said: “The market went extremely well and we were pleased to raise such a great sum of money for two very worthwhile charities.”
The university’s Multi-faith Chaplaincy also organised Christmas carols outside the campus on the same day, with members handing out mince pies and non-alcoholic mulled wine.
