Shoppers were evacuated from a section of the Eden shopping centre this afternoon after fears over a gas leak.
The centre confirmed that there is a ruptured gas pipe in the old Octagon part of the centre and that people in the area had been ushered out “as a precaution”.
Gas maintenance crews are on site and working to fix the problem now, the centre stated, and the area is currently expected to be fully open to the public as normal tomorrow morning.
