Two men have been arrested after 14 cars were vandalised in an overflow carpark of a High Wycombe department store yesterday.

This most recent damage is believed to be linked to the outcome of the inquest into the death of Habib Ullah.

Police were called at 5.40pm yesterday to reports that windows were smashed and graffiti sprayed on the side of the vehicles parked in the overflow carpark of John Lewis Partnership, in Holmers Farm Way.

A 20-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were arrested yesterday and bailed today until 20 April, pending further inquiries.

A total of 136 vehicles were damaged in days of attacks on vehicles after a verdict of misadventure with narrative attached was returned in the conclusion of a month-long inquest into the death of Mr Ullah, who died in police custody.

Graffiti sprayed on dozens of cars read “NJNP” and is thought to stand for “No Justice, No Peace” – which Justice4Paps campaigners chanted outside the courthouse following the verdict nearly two weeks ago.

Chief Inspector Rebecca Mears said: “There is no excuse for mindless acts of criminal behaviour that target innocent members of the public and we will not tolerate it. We have made arrests in relation to this particular incident.

“We would ask for members of the public to remain vigilant and immediately report sightings of such anti-social and suspicious behaviour to police by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.”
