'Penknife' used in attempted robbery in High Wycombe

'Penknife' used in attempted robbery 'Penknife' used in attempted robbery

A WOULD-BE robber who threatened a woman with what's believed to be a penknife ran off when his victim called for help.

The attempted robbery took place in Desborough Street between 6-6.15pm on Monday evening when the man told his female victim to hand over her money.

He also tried to snatch the 22-year-old woman's handbag from her shoulder but he fled the scene when she called for help.

The woman was not assaulted during the incident, during which the man produced what police describe as a penknife style knife.

Officers investigating the attempted robbery are looking for a man who is described as dark skinned, tall and slim, dressed all in black and wearing a scarf over his mouth and nose.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any other information which may assist police with their investigation is asked to contact Det Con Simon Reid on 101 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

What a lovely place Wycombe is,
particulary the Desborough Road area.

Oh not the armed robbery in Beaconsfield or the bank robbery in Marlow or Bourne End or the muggings in Thame or the people severely beaten in Chesham or the recent murders in Aylesbury or Slough then.
.
Desborough , according to 2011 / 2012 TV Police statistics (easily checked on-line) is a relatively low crime area. Unlike several nearby town centres and other areas..
.
Still give a dog a bad name , like that BFP regular despicable liar 'Ivor Bigun' does on a persistant basis about Desborough and I suppose some of the uncalled for mud sticks .....

There have been quite a few incidents on this particular road and Victoria Street of late, many of which have not been reported on by the BFP.

What a brave lady! I would like to think i would scream out for help if something like this happened to me, but i can imagine it must have been very scary, and many people faced with this would have just 'given in' to the robber.
