A PAIR of intrepid air cadets from Marlow spread their wings as they were whisked away to board a real life warship for a week.
Catherine Doarks and Lydienne Horsford, cadets at 1811 (Marlow) Squadron Air Training Corps, embarked for the adventure on moored frigate HMS Bristol in Portsmouth last month.
Paid for by the Royal Navy, the unusual week-long summer camp saw the girls treated to a flight in a Chinook helicopter and visit army Air Corps base at Middle Wallop.
Budding recruit Catherine described the experience as “the best week of my life!”
The girls’ squadron is holding a recruiting Open Day at their headquarters next to the library on Institute Road this Saturday, September 13 from 11am to 3pm.
Refreshments and burgers are available throughout the day, with children and parents welcome.
