CONFUSED tourists will no longer have to wander aimlessly from Marlow Station to find the town’s beauty spots after a plan to install a new tourist information board was approved this week.

Currently, there is no guidance for visitors arriving by rail about which way to go to find the river, park, High Street, buses or other amenities.

But Marlow Town Council has agreed to spend an estimated £850 on a comprehensive guide right outside the station to show the thousands of visitors flocking there each month all Marlow has to offer.

Mayor Suzanne Brown said: "This is a really great idea as we all know when you come into Marlow there is nothing to tell you where the High Street is, or buses, or anything.

"But to have a notice board to give information of everything in the town is a major step forward."

Mayor Brown said it is another important improvement to the station area after the installation of the electronic train information display from Great Western.

It was recommended that the board was put on stilts to raise it to eye level and attract more viewers.

Town councillors have also agreed to look into funding a waymark along Station Road, after Cllr Kathy Thompson said she often sees groups of confused visitors in search of the staion.
