A TEENAGE air cadet enjoyed the ride of his life last week after getting a last minute call to take the controls of an RAF jet.
Coporal Daniel Wallis-Banbury, 15, was assisting visitors to the 1811 (Marlow) Squadron open day when he got a call for a vacant flying spot at RAF Benson if he could get there quickly.
With the help of staff, Daniel rushed over to the Oxfordshire airfield to take his place in the RAF training aircraft after his previous flights had been cancelled due to poor weather.
And during the flight of a lifetime, Daniel was handed the controls as well as being treated to some aerobatics by pilot Flying Officer Pillai.
Training staff and cadets held the open day last Saturday at their base next to the library on Institute Road to attract more recruits to the thriving group.
