HISTORIANS have unearthed a collection of stories, facts and anecdotes about Marlow seen through the eyes of a notable town figure – which have now been released in a new book.
The Marlow Society has released ‘Notes on Old Marlow’, taken from the written notes of early twentieth century architect Gerald Berkeley Wills – a founding society member.
Written in 1961 when Wills was 79, the notes have been compiled alongside photographs from the collection of fellow town historian Michael Eagleton.
Among Wills’ notable town buildings is the Marlow Cottage Hospital, built in 1912, and the Brittania pub in the 1950s.
Notes on Old Marlow costs £4.99 and is available from WH Smith on Marlow High Street and the Tourist Information Centre on Institute Road.
