A BOOK blogger with a passion for reading is aiming to raise over £1000 - and keep his eyes open - during a 24-hour readathon for charity next month.

Dane Cobain, who runs a website dedicated to reviewing books, is gearing up for the mammoth prose pilgrimage on November 8 to help fight dyslexia.

The 25-year-old writer from High Wycombe works at creative agency FST in Marlow and pens novels at night, and has teamed up with authors to give away prizes to people who donate during the day-long textual trek.

He said: "Everyone should have a fair shot at reading and writing, and dyslexia is personal - my super-supportive granddad suffers from dyslexia and I want to make him proud!

"As for what I'm planning to read, I always have loads of books to get on with and so I'm just going to pick them off my shelf depending upon my mood - however, I do know that I'm hoping to read The Fault in Our Stars by John Greene, The Casual Vacancy by J. K. Rowling and probably a couple of Stephen King books."

The 25-year-old will begin his foray into fiction at 11am on Saturday, November 8 and carry on reading throughout the day and night until 11am the next morning.

Dane reckons he might get through as many as eight novels - around 2500 pages - during his optical odyssey, the equivalent of readijng Tolstoy epic War and Peace twice over.

Prizes during the day include signed books and Skype calls with authors for schools, and even the chance to have characters named after you in upcoming novels.

The readathon will also be streamed live on Dane’s Youtube Channel, which he runs in conjunction with website and book blog www.socialbookshelves.com
