AN OUT of action pedestrian crossing on a busy town centre road will be turned back on tomorrow, according to road bosses.
The light-controlled pelican crossing on West Street in Marlow has been switched off since roadworks and temporary lights moved in at the beginning of October.
Marlovians have questioned why the crossing has not been reinstated after the National Grid operation ended yesterday – a week earlier than its revised October 31 deadline.
But Transport for Buckinghamshire, the roads arm of Bucks County Council, says it was not informed of the early finish and will act to turn the lights back on tomorrow morning.
As well as relieved commuters, businesses along West Street will celebrate the departure of the roadworks to replace gas mains, which one traders said caused the worst traffic chaos he had seen in 20 years.
