PUPILS at a Marlow School were inspired by the dazzling poppy display at the Tower of London as they paid their own Remembrance tributes this week.

Burford School in Marlow Bottom observed Remembrance Day on Tuesday by learning of the significance of the poppy as a symbol of war, before making their own as a tribute.

After a short assembly in the school’s new hall, each child made and placed a poppy at the foot of a tree to create their own living memorial inspired by more than 880,000 ceramic flowers filling the moat at the Tower.

At 11.00 the whole school gathered on the playground for two minutes of silence, the end of which was marked by Year 6 pupils who played The Last Post on their trumpets.

The school’s Caroline Gajraj said it was a "very thoughtful and poignant morning".
