A hugely successful year for one of Marlow’s fastest growing business success stories saw the firm break the £500 million barrier for the first time.

Full end of year figures for Marlow-based IT company and major town employer Softcat revealed it turned over half a billion to the end of July.

The firm, which employs around 400 people at its Fieldhouse Lane home, also increased its profits by 30 per cent to £35.5m.

CEO Martin Hellawell said: "We were delighted to break through the £500 million barrier.

"These exceptional growth rates have been achieved against a backdrop of a market estimated at single digit annual percentage growth. We have taken significant market share to achieve these results."

Softcat also increased the number of staff to 673 across its three sites in Marlow, Leeds and Manchester, up 115 on the previous year.

This year staff – many of whom live in Marlow – helped the firm become named the second best place to work in the UK in a national survey.
