AN ILLUSTRATOR from Marlow will rub shoulders with baking supremo Mary Berry this weekend as she shows off her work at a special department store event.

Nicola Metcalfe, from Marlow Bottom, has won fans all over the country after her bright coloured reimagining of famous London landmarks was commissioned by the Tate Gallery.

And with John Lewis also stocking her popular prints, the mum-of-two will lead a colouring workshop for adults and children alike alongside Mary Berry’s book signing at the High Wycombe store.

She said: "Whilst she signs books, I will be running a colouring activity for adults and children based on a London map, the colour framed version of which is sold through John Lewis.

“I live about a mile from John Lewis so I phoned them and asked if I could go in and raise awareness, they stock my pictures there so it seems silly not to.

“They said it sounded like a really nice idea so invited me in this weekend, as it’s a really big weekend for them.

"We are encouraging everyone who needs a break from Christmas shopping to come along and indulge in the relaxing pastime of colouring-in. It's all the rage!

“I love the bake off so it’s a lovely thought. One of the prints they sell of mine has a Victoria sponge on it so I’m hoping Mary might want a copy!”

Nicola has also created a Marlow version of her illustration, complete with town landmarks such as the Steve Redgrave statue, All Saints Church, Wethered Brewery and the town’s iconic bridge.

And earlier this year she presented a special copy to neighbouring Marlow institution Rebellion Brewery, which is also featured on the artwork.
