After last year's devastating floodwaters struck at Longridge, the activity centre is taking no chances this winter and is inviting volunteers to help pack the site away on Monday.

A statement from the site said: "There is little that we can do to stop the water from trying to wash us away but there are precautions we can take to limit the damage. Anything that can be moved needs to be moved as far away from the waterfront as possible, and anything that can’t be moved needs to be secured."

The site is calling for as many strong volunteers as possible, as they prepare for a day of lifting and moving things from one place to another. There will be mulled wine and mince pies to refuel the work force.

The Quarrywood Road site hopes to start the work at 10am - but help at any time of day will be welcome.

If you have any questions or can let Longridge know you will be helping, email savannah.catharine@alfcharity.org to let us know if you are able to join us or if you have any questions.

The site has a set of plans to prevent future flood damage, that will cost £150,000 - it is welcoming any ideas for fundraising.
