Nominations are now open for a charity awards ceremony due to be held at a Marlow hotel, celebrating inspirational women from across the region.

The eight annual Sue Ryder Women of Achievement Awards were launched last week, with charity organisers urging people to put forward names of inspiring women across a range of categories.

Prizes include sportswoman of the year, businesswoman of the year and an award for young achievers.

Lady Ryder was the original inspiration for creating this female only awards ceremony to help raise awareness and funds for local hospice care in Berks, Bucks and Oxon.

And a glitzy fundraising awards bash will take place on March 19 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Fieldhouse Lane.

Jackie Chappell, who won Businesswoman of the Year at the awards in 2013, is one of the Awards’ Ambassadors.

Ms Chappell, who was the first ever woman CEO in the rail industry, formed her own company, The Ironing Lady, 10 years ago and now employs over 20 people.

She said, "Being nominated was such an honour and I couldn’t believe it, little old me!

"I was so touched that others had felt me worthy of being considered and I am delighted to be involved in the Awards again this year to help spread the word about the amazing work that takes place at Sue Ryder. I am honoured to be part of it."

To nominate a remarkable woman you know and celebrate with Sue Ryder please call for more information on 01491 641070.

Online nominations can be made from January 9 at www.sueryder.org/woa.
