Marlow's police station will go up for sale at the end of the month, with officers considering setting up in the library instead.

Last year, the MFP reported the decision to sell the Dean Street station, with Inspector Scott Messenger confirming bids for the iconic site could begin as early as two week’s time.

But the Marlow-based officer insists any buyer will have to provide a space for the policing team to work from, with smaller, modern facilities suiting the force better.

He said: "We are expecting quite a lot of interest. It comes with a covenant that whoever buys it will develop a re-purposed police building on the site, though it will be smaller than the current one."

The current Marlow Police Station was built in the late 1960s to replace the original building around the corner of Trinity Road.

TVP announced the sale of parts of its estate in October, as it looks to make savings of £44.6m over the next three years.

Insp. Messenger said the team is currently in talks with the library about arranging a temporary front counter service from the Institute Road building.

The library is quickly becoming a hub for Marlow after Wycombe District Council agreed a deal to move its tourist information and council services office there.
