A school placed in special measures last year has refuted rumours it says surfaced last week on social media that the school was about to close.

Staff at Bisham School – where the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead intervened after a ppor Ofsted report – say there is no truth to any of the comments.

School leaders say the rumours upset many parents who have children at the school.

In a joint statement, Interim heads Jane Foster and Vicky Brand said: “We have been particularly concerned to hear that a number of parents have been upset by recent misinformation spread through social media regarding admissions and the future of the school.

“There are no plans to close Bisham School and we will be admitting children to start in September as usual. We are also welcoming new admissions at any time.

“We do advise you as parents to disregard sources of information that do not come from the School Newsletters or through the School communication systems; it is not reliable.”

Permanent staff are now being employed at the primary school after a string of temporary teachers brought in following the school being placed into special measures in November.

And an Interim Executive Board of governors is now in place after a major reshuffle, which saw long-standing head Jim Cooke step away from his duties.

An Ofsted update last month said the council were right to intervene, but said the authority could have acted quicker in taking over the reins and needs to do more to get the school back on track.

Parents have told the Free Press they feel the school is "healing" since following a difficult period, despite the small village school losing at least 30 pupils during the RBWM takeover.
