A business owner from Marlow says she feels like she is "banging her head against a brick wall" as she tries to get the council to repair damage caused by a bin lorry.

Holistic therapist Kathryn Tinsley claims she has been waiting since September for an answer to her calls after refuse collectors took a chunk out of the side of her shopfront.

The Marlovian, who runs Karoma Therapies on Station Road, says she feels let down by Wycombe District Council for ignoring the damage, which is getting worse by the week.

And the exasperated owner wants officials to take responsibility for their actions and rectify the problem immediately.

She said: "I’ve been calling for some time and the council have done nothing. They haven’t even had the decency to return my calls or write me a letter.

"I feel like I’ve been banging my head against a brick wall, I’m just invisible to them. It’s despicable, this is a public service which we pay for.

"It’s very tight around here, but they used to send a smaller truck.

"I just think they way they have gone about it is so bad. I accept accidents happen, we’re all human, but you should deal with them."

Ms Tinsley says the crack in her window frame is now causing damp inside her salon and problems in the cellar.

The therapist does not know how much the damage will cost to set right, and is reluctant to contact her insurance company until she hears from the council.

Wycombe District Council’s waste service is operated by contractor Serco, after a new seven year joint venture with Chiltern District Council worth £7million began last March.

WDC said it has now contacted Ms Tinsley to rectify the problem, with Serco due to pay her a visit soon.

Spokesman Catherine Spalton said: "Our contractor, Serco, has contacted Karoma Therapies to arrange a mutually convenient time to attend to the damage.

"We can only apologise to Karoma Therapies for the delay in responding to this issue."
