10:37am Tuesday 16th March 2010 in Marlow By James Nadal
A DEDICATED fundraiser cycled about 100 miles – without ever leaving Marlow High Street.
John Spooner, 35, a sales consultant, of Barnhill Close, Marlow, raised just over £500 for the British Heart Foundation with a seven hour static bike ride.
It took place on Sunday February 27 outside the foundation's High Street shop.
Mr Spooner will cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats in May in a gruelling 12 day challenge.
He will raise more cash for the foundation in memory of his grandfather who died of heart disease and also for the Youth Sports Trust.
John's wife Lucy, 35, a data analyst, said: “It went really well and he was really pleased. It's something he always wanted to do since his 20s, he did the marathon in 2001 and wanted a challenge.”
The couple's two children, Imogen 5 and Emily, 3, both Marlow Church of England School pupils, cheered the cyclist on during the day and hope to organise further events to raise more money.
